We are what we choose. Our alternatives are arranged before us to observe scrupulously. We can either conform to our typical, monotonous style of subsistence or rebel to discover something which we appreciate.
We sense the culture we breathe in is a bane and dismissive of our ideals. The people around us fail to recognize our potential and endless possibilities perpetually stay unknown. The present state of affairs will forever exist and that perfect day which we desperately seek will never arrive. It is never easy to rebel. Numerous circumstances cloud our judgment and avert us from doing so. It is very easy to curse fate and shamelessly drop our heads.
Where do we stand?
Do we conceal our flaws and inability to act by blaming Fate? Are you not the Master of your Fate?
Why don't we learn to play with the cards we are dealt?
Why do we squander time in condemning the dealer rather than utilizing it for our own benefits?
Sulking is for the faint hearted. We have two distinct choices, either liberate the Rebel within or shut up and obey the rules of our pathetic existence.

haha i think u should be able to let the rebel out as long as it's along the guidelines of islam. There should be a balance and control of the "rebel" as well, that way you can't be labeled an "angst-ridden" young man and dismissed for ur lack of maturity {as some might lable it}. :p

Why is it that the Guidelines of Islam seem to vary culturally...
What is accepted in one region is considered taboo in the other..
Is it a sin to rebel against these psuedo-Islamic Cultural standards ?
yea thats the sick part isn't it? That's why it's important for You to personally look up the true 'guidelines of islam.' We all know how much cultural crap distorts true islam and gives you mixed messages and even contradicts itself sometimes! Being educated and having the ability to comprehend various thoughts should then hold us accountable for knowing the "true islamic principles" & applying them.
I dont think its a SIN to rebel against 'psuedo-islamic cultural standards.' However, cultures often emulate or reflect off of religious moral principles. Still, if there is a contradtiction b/n a cultural standard and an islamic principle, then go ahead & rebel i say. Yea you might offend some people, but what's more important? Fear of Allah swt & the akhira.
You say, fine i offend some people, but then offending people is also frowned upon in Islam. Not if it's for the sake of Islam and Allah {swt}. You can, even in this situation, deny your parents who are highly regarded in Islam.
In suran Luqman allah swt says, "show gratitude to Me and to thy parents; to Me is thy final goal."
You should "rebel" in a polite way though...b/c being beligerant and overbearing is not the correct way to go about it. Otherwise, I say rebel all you want against capricious cultural traditions!
